Manufacturing Excellence [ManEx] Support Manager is responsible for delivering the Manufacturing Excellence program for the sourcing unit (SU) in its entirety, and for UMS [Unilever Manufacturing Systems] organization she/he is the UMS Coordinator and FI [Focused Improvement] Pillar Leader. The ManEx Support Manager reports to the Plant Manager and dotted line to a regional ManEx Lead. The role has a direct impact on delivering improvements of SU’s performance (e.g. Waste, Net Productivity, OEE, ManEx Savings, CPT, Reliability etc.).  She/he inculcates the UMS philosophy, embraces digital & data driven solutions and leads by example to influence colleagues and helping them apply continuous improvement mindset.

Main Responsibilities

Business Impact: 

  • Masterplan: Develop Factory Masterplan in coordination with BG & BU ManEx team, SU Leadership Team, BU Finance, BU Long term capacity planning, Engineering, HR, etc.  
  • UMS: Responsible for overall UMS Coordination in factories and give set up governance for each pillar progress with SUD and BU ManEx Lead. Additionally, lead the FI Pillar program rollout and implementation, activities and projects. 
  • Waste: Support the sourcing unit teams on waste governance and help R2S [Run 2 Standard] teams to develop waste improvement projects using FI methodologies to update & prepare glidepath. Involved in key EPM [Early Product Management] for Home Care innovations projects along with SUIT to address commissioning or ramp-up waste losses from design. 
  • Cost Governance: Co-Lead the Cost governance along with BPCD Pillar Leader to develop the cost budget and to control the cost by Weekly Cost Governance and Zero-Based Budget. 
  • Savings: Responsible to consolidate all the savings projects through FI activities, transformation and Kaizens from the sourcing unit operations teams and help to identify projects to meet the targeted production cost and manufacturing waste. 
  • Reliability: Expand the loss management framework beyond Manufacturing and have KPI´s for interfaces with Manufacturing (OR losses) 

Continuous Improvement Program 

  • Tools and Methods: Guide and encourage SU team to identify opportunities for Kaizen and use right Tools and Methods (toolkits) to attack the major losses and ensure good quality standardization across the SU.  
  • UMS: Own the roll out of the UMS program (for foundation and advanced) in the SU, perform gap analysis, supports teams to create improvement plan; facilitate assessments with global teams. Lead the roll of our 7 Steps of FI Pillar. 
  • OEE & Productivity: Drive people (man-hr/ton) & asset efficiency (OEE) aligned with R2S and ensure OEE losses are 100% aligned with MMP Code and ensure auto data collecting system in place to generate the loss tree. 
  • Performance reporting: Support the deployment of MMP standards set up and coherent application. Analyze and report continuous improvement savings through Cost Deployment. Facilitates timely and accurate reporting of site performance KPIs e.g. Waste, Net Productivity, OEE, ManEx Savings, Kaizens etc. 

Digital & Data Analytics

  • Descriptive and Diagnostic: Drive digital factory program for level 1 and level 2. Act as the primary point of contact for RTVA, MDCS data reporting systems, and use of global apps DFOS, BuildApp, SPC and NGTW. 
  • Predictive and Prescriptive: Support BG and BU engineering for level 3 and level 4 solutions in terms of impact on operations and business results.  

Technology

  • EEM Methodology - Ensure project team has appropriate training on EEM and UMS methodology. 
  • Purpose of investment - Early alignment (Idea Phase) with BU ManEx and Technology / Engineering team especially on Category A & B projects to leverage EEM [Early Equipment Management] for all Savings, Capacity, Innovation & Sustainability CapEx Projects 
  • Capacity Custodian: Collaborate with Sourcing Strategy team to look for opportunities to sweat the asset, i.e. debottleneck the lines by finding creative solutions. 
  • Front loading concept - Provide support and coaching to project team(s) as project moves through the EPM & EEM Steps (focus on EEM step 1,2,3,4). 

People: 

  • Continuous improvement culture: Ensure that ManEx activities are impacting both results and the culture change towards the vision as determined by zero loss mindset including. Record, Recognize and Rewards all improvements e.g. Kaizens. 
  • Upskilling & reskilling:  Support skills development (upskilling and reskilling) of white and blue-collar workers  
  • Training: Deliver and coordinate appropriate training (theory and practical application) involving continuous improvement  
  • FOS [Factory Operation System]: Standardize sourcing unit governance systems in line with FOS (R2S - Sourcing unit Operating System) elements and audit effectiveness  

Candidate Criteria

Experience & Qualification

  • Candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, industrial engineering or equivalent or master’s degree is preferred. 
  • Candidate must have at least 7 years total experience in supply chain operations with solid background in FMCG Supply Chain/Manufacturing Excellence 
  • Experienced in manufacturing, technology / engineering, leading/implementing process improvement projects is preferred.  

Skill

  • Candidate should be equipped with sharp articulation of communication in engaging with various stakeholders
  • Candidate should have a sharp analytical skill and structured thinking to work and convince cross-function stakeholders 
  • Strong continuous improvement program background (e.g. Lean/6Sigma/TPM/WCM/UMS) with strong achievements. 
  • Ability to lead and influence teams 
  • Can collaborate well with multiple teams to drive efficiency and savings 
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office, PowerBI, Minitab and project management tools.
