Purposeof the Role:
GDT Logistics, part of the Customer Operations business product domain, serves as the digital backbone of Unilever’s logistics ecosystem. It delivers scalable, data-driven solutions across Transportation, Warehouse, and Logistics Analytics products. The team manages critical global platforms such as OTM, SAP eWMS, and Blue Yonder, enabling efficiency, cost optimisation, and operational excellence. With a strong emphasis on AI, automation, and integrated planning, GDT Logistics plays a vital role in driving end-to-end supply chain transformation.
The Logistics Release & Controls Product Engineer is responsible for ensuring operational stability, compliance, and continuous improvement across logistics applications—particularly in Transportation, Warehouse (WH), and Data domains. This role bridges the gap between product delivery and governance by managing release cycles, enforcing control frameworks, and driving audit readiness.
What Will Your Main Responsibilities Be:
Release Management
Plan and execute monthly, weekly, and emergency release cycles across logistics products (e.g., OTM, EPOD, SAP EWM, Blue Yonder).
Coordinate with product teams to align on release windows and downtime schedules.
Manage change activities via ServiceNow, including CAB approvals, CRQ tracking, and deployment governance.
Drive automation in release processes (e.g., G-Charm, DevOps pipelines) to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency.
Controls & Compliance
Monitor control activities in line with the Integrated Control Framework (ICF).
Identify and support remediation of Gaps to Policy (GTP) and audit deficiencies.
Support annual assessments (TPRM, OEA, ICAA/ISA) and corporate audit readiness.
Collaborate with product teams to implement compensating controls and track remediation to closure.
Automation & Innovation
Leverage AI to automate control monitoring, anomaly detection, and compliance reporting.
Champion automation initiatives across release and control processes to drive efficiency and reduce manual interventions.
Bring a strong zeal for automation, continuously exploring innovative technologies and practices to enhance operational effectiveness.
Governance & Reporting
Contribute to Change Control Board (CCB) compliance and ensure governance across all logistics products.
Maintain KPIs and dashboards for release and control performance.
Support Net Promoter Score (NPS) governance and feedback loops for logistics applications.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with Product teams, Vendor partners and Central Governance teams (Cyber Security, Global Change Management, etc.).
Engage with regional and global stakeholders to harmonise release and control practices.
Contribute to strategic initiatives such as implementation of Bring Your Identity for 3PL users, DR/WAF, and roles rationalisation.
NECESSARY EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
3–5 years of experience in Release Management, IT Controls, or DevOps within a logistics or supply chain environment.
Strong understanding of ITIL processes, audit frameworks, and risk management.
Hands-on experience with ServiceNow.
Familiarity with automation tools and CI/CD pipelines.
Exposure to AI/ML tools or platforms used in IT operations or compliance is a plus.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science or related field.
Certifications in ITIL, Agile, or Risk & Compliance (e.g., CISA, CRISC) are a plus.
Experience working in a global matrix organisation.
