Job Purpose
The BW-PC Laboratory and Inbound Material QA Lead spearheads the site testing facility and ensures that all applicable test methods are in place, that measurement standards are accurate and reproducible, and that all laboratory and satellite testing equipment are appropriate, calibrated, operated and optimized but still compliant to the required standard. S/he can perform complex analyses, advises on interpretation of results, and trains Quality Analysts as needed. S/he will be responsible in ensuring methods are validated before implementation.
This person is responsible in ensuring programs related to raw and packaging materials are available and in place.This includes but not limited to supplier management, aligned test methods and acceptance, elimination of Incident Es.
What Will Your Main Responsibilities Be
People, Culture & Linkage
- Leads the execution and verification of effectiveness of training plans for new laboratory methods or ensures maintenance of existing skills related to laboratory methods and equipment calibration.
- Liaises with BG/BU Q, R&D and expertise team regarding methods and equipment.
Quality Systems Management
- Prepares local procedures and work instructions that ensure Unilever and other applicable standards for proper calibration, application and control of laboratory methods.
- Supports reporting of operational KPIs by analyzing complex data and assigning into standard Quality loss trees.
- Complies with requirements regarding use of SAP QM and Unilever specifications including use of PLM system.
Testing & Measurement
- Leads site program for quality assurance of raw materials and packaging components, work-in-process and finished goods and documents results / information as required in designated system such as SAP QM.
- Ensures advanced technical knowledge (e.g. chemistry, microbiology, sensory, statistics, mathematics, etc.) to support site quality testing program and sensory panels for raw materials and packaging components, work-in-process and finished goods aligned with Unilever requirements and specifications.
- Establishes and implements correct methods and equipment and implements proper calibration and control of testing to verify and reproduce results against specifications.
- Acts based upon specification limits to hold or release in-bound materials, work-in-process and finished product (unless local regulations dictate the Q Specialist or Manager to make the final decision).
Method Validation
- Creates validation plan ensuring required standards (regulatory and Unilever) are considered and main objectives are achieved.
- Performs data analysis using appropriate statistical tools to properly assess and interpret the data.
- Provides technical recommendation based on the validation activity and ensures method is properly cascaded and implemented.
Continuous Improvement
- Provides method and data analysis support for projects to reduce and/or eliminate quality losses as needed.
- Trends analytical data to help identify supplier improvement opportunities and manufacturing process capability.
Innovation & Change
- Provides method support for executing innovation trials, early management in site projects, VIP trials, and Launch Monitoring Plans for innovations and equipment changes.
- Participates in Main Plant Trial, Trundling Test, Commercial Run Monitoring with R&D whenever necessary
- Provides input to Production Trial Reports, Manufacturing Work Instruction whenever necessary
- Involved in the risk assessment and advises necessary control measures to consider during site transfers, machine commissioning, and process improvements
- Ensures that Quality Process Review and Change Management protocol are implemented for any product and process revisions
Experiences & Qualifications
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
- Licensed Chemist
- Experienced in using HPLC, FTIR, Celsis
- Good people handling, coaching, and leadership skills
- Problem solving and data analysis skills
- Presentation skills (well versed in MS Office and Power Apps)
- Knowledge in using tools such as Power BI, SAP, SPC is a plus
- Working knowledge in GLP, UMS, HACCP and BRC
- Manufacturing experience in FMCG
