JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Processing Lead has a team of 9+ union-based direct reports across 3 shifts on a 24/6 schedule. They will be fully responsible for the processing area end to end. This includes:
- Bulk raw material receiving through the entire batching and mixing process up to the last stage of mixing and emulsifying where the product goes to the filler.
- Helping lead the development and modification of process formulations, methods and controls to meet quality standards in both our condiments & mix operations.
- Recommending and implementing improvements, modifications or additions, documenting work; and testing and solving complex problems.
- Reviewing product requirements with product development compatibility of processing methods to determine costs and schedules.
- Conducting highly technical and complex tests related to the operation of plant equipment and processes.
- Perform chemical production operations such as mixing, crushing, and heat transfer.
Role expectations:
- Effectively manage a team of 9+ union-based direct reports across 3 shifts.
- Troubleshoot complex technical and process problems that may arise with new or existing systems.
- End to end ownership of the entire processing area, receiving to the fill hopper.
- Design, specify, purchase, and install equipment to satisfy production requirements.
- Coordinate with Category Engineering on introduction of new products, the process development, and the associated equipment issues involved.
- Create process procedures for new products and review existing process procedures for improvement opportunities.
- Interact with plant engineers, corporate, chemist, management teams, and equipment improvement teams.
What We’re Looking For
- A B.S. or M.S. degree in an engineering discipline
- 3+ years of directly related engineering experience.
- Fully understand and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Must be able to effectively manage conflict while creating an inclusive work environment
- Full understanding of the OHSA and pertinent safety regulations
- Experience with manufacturing equipment, concepts and regulations
- Experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment
- Leadership experience in manufacturing environment or continuous improvement (WCM, TPM, Lean Manufacturing)
- Champion for Change Management

Pay: The pay range for this position is $86,080 to $129,120. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.
