Job Title: Assistant Manager – Cost Accounting

Job location: Chittagong, Unilever Factory, Kalurghat

Number of office days: 6 days

Qualifications: Master’s in finance/accounting, MBA, or Qualified/Part Qualified Chartered Accountant

Skills: proficient in SAP and advanced Excel for data analysis & financial modeling

Job Summary: The Cost Accounting Manager is responsible for accurate determination, analysis, and reporting of manufacturing costs, ensuring robust financial control over factory operations. This role plays a critical part in driving cost efficiency, supporting operational decision-making, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Analysis and Reporting:

  • Ensure on time and accurate month end closing

    Prepare Purchase Price Variance (PPV) journal entries for all material types (RM, PM, SFG, etc.) across all entities (UBL, UCL).

    Calculate and prepare journal entries for Mould cost adjustments for all plants (UBL, UCL).

  • Conduct analysis of actual material costs & prepare quarterly Product Cost Estimation (PCE).
  • Analyze and monitor Inventory in Transit (SIT) to ensure it remains below defined threshold limits.
  • Monitor and review GRIR (Goods Receipt/Invoice Receipt) clearing processes.

Wastage Analysis, Reporting and Partnering:

  • Generate comprehensive wastage reports, conduct hygiene checks, confirm data with operational teams, and reconcile with cycle counts.
  • Actively participate in the follow-up of RCA and actions taken regarding identified wastage issues.
  • Prepare detailed wastage analysis decks for global and local review and reporting
  • Partner wastage savings projects to drive value by providing appropriate analysis

Inventory Management & Control:

  • Perform insurance stock analysis, reconciliation, and system cleaning for insurance coverage.
  • Prepare comprehensive inventory and other related schedules for financial reporting.
  • Actively manage and follow up on Inventory in Transit (GIT) and Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) reports, including analysis, meetings, and follow-ups.

Process Improvement & Optimization:

  • Drive improvements in SIT (Stock in Transit) control and ensure their effective implementation.
  • Review production consumption and ensure timely COGI (Consumption Grouping) closure.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely closure of production orders.
  • Develop, maintain, and update standard costs for all products, including raw materials, labor, and overhead, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Control, Audit and Compliance:

  • Ensure all related controls are effectively performing for costing and inventory management.
  • Prepare all necessary documentation for internal and external auditors.
  • Review audit queries, provide timely and accurate responses, and share required information.
