Job Purpose:
The Assistant Engineering Manager – Processing plays a pivotal role in ensuring that all processing equipment operates reliably and efficiently to support the business's growth ambitions. This role focuses on eliminating breakdowns, maintaining basic equipment conditions, and driving continuous improvement using Unilever Manufacturing System (UMS) methodologies. The role is responsible for implementing predictive and preventive maintenance strategies, simplifying processes, and optimizing cost and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and support the implementation of UMS methodologies to improve equipment reliability and performance.
Drive elimination of breakdowns through root cause analysis and implementation of sustainable countermeasures.
Ensure basic equipment conditions are maintained and improved through autonomous and professional maintenance practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and execute improvement projects that enhance processing efficiency and reduce costs.
Develop and monitor KPIs related to equipment performance, maintenance effectiveness, and reliability.
Support capital projects and equipment upgrades to meet future business needs.
Coach and develop technical teams to build capability in maintenance and reliability practices.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards in all engineering activities.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in engineering or maintenance roles within FMCG or manufacturing environments.
Proven experience in implementing TPM, UMS, or similar manufacturing excellence frameworks.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of processing equipment and systems.
Proficiency in predictive and preventive maintenance techniques.
Familiarity with root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram).
Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is a plus.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
Continuous improvement mindset and proactive approach.
