Role Title: Assistant Procurement Manager – Beauty and Wellbeing (B&W) Philippines

Function: Procurement

Location: Philippines (Bonifacio Stopover Corporate Center)

Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job

The Beauty and Wellbeing Philippines Business Unit encompasses two primary categories: Skin Care and Hair Care. The primary responsibilities of the role include:

Business Partner

  • Support the Procurement Manager by serving as a key contact for procurement-related matters within the Philippines. Ensure alignment with the Business Unit's strategy and objectives, and communicate procurement strategies and market dynamics to relevant stakeholders.

GM Improvement

  • Assist in driving value creation to positively impact the gross margin (GM) of the category. Collaborate with cross-functional teams in the Business Unit, R&D, Business Operations, and Marketing to achieve this goal.

Innovation

  • Support innovation initiatives within the Beauty and Wellbeing BU in the Philippines, ensuring seamless delivery of new products and solutions.

Raw Material Sourcing

  • Assist in overseeing the sourcing and operations of raw materials for the Beauty and Wellbeing BU in the Philippine market.

Collaborative Manufacturing

  • Support the collaborative manufacturing procurement processes for Beauty and Wellbeing in the Philippines.

Strategic Projects

  • Assist in leading strategic projects under the Procurement Lighthouse initiative, aimed at achieving groundbreaking improvements in procurement performance.
  • This role requires a good understanding of the business group and market, strong influencing and communication skills, and the ability to network effectively with various teams across Supply Chain (SC) and R&D departments located in different regions.

Accountabilities:

  • Support key business deliverables in terms of Quality, Service, Cost Savings, and cash, working closely with business operations & portfolio procurement.
  • Assist in managing key projects and innovation interfacing with the business group and business unit.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure all KPIs are well delivered.
  • Contribute to shaping the strategy with internal and external stakeholders to improve partnership, competitive buying, and sustainable sourcing while increasing agility in services to the business.
  • Support the development of talent for procurement and supply chain competency.
  • Promote the use of digital tools to increase efficiency and smart working output.

Responsibilities:

Drive, Create, Own and Deliver:

  • Support consistency in sourcing process execution and quality of outputs/service level to business stakeholders.
  • Maintain an understanding of materials dynamics (current market, pricing, cost drivers, industry, and supplier variables); communicate and share knowledge with Category and Sourcing Managers.
  • Foster strong business relationships at mid-level to increase influence over total PI & IP spend.
  • Support continuous process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Encourage the use of technology (e.g., Data, Analytics, Automation, Digitization) across the function.
  • Assist in achieving value creation and supplier targets established for the function.
  • Contribute to creating and implementing a highly engaged, effective Procurement organization working across the globe.

Oversee, Collaborate, Understand and Review:

  • Support Strategic Sourcing resources responsible for a wide portfolio of complex and/or critical Direct/Indirect innovation projects.
  • Monitor and report on progress towards achieving functional goals/target metrics; proactively address performance gaps or issues potentially impacting success as needed.
  • Assist in managing executive-level business stakeholder relationships to ensure customer satisfaction across all categories.
  • Support critical, executive-level Supplier Relationships and Supplier Business Reviews for material and supply chain services partners.
  • Advise on value-generating projects based on complexity, resources, risk, time to implement, and estimated financial impact for Direct & Indirect categories.
  • Support strategic sourcing projects for supplier selection/optimization to execute global procurement vision/strategy.

Coordinate, Supervise and Lead:

  • Coordinate with the Market Leadership team on the execution of contracts, management of supplier performance, and risk and spend data.
  • Supervise and coach team members to drive continuous improvement of performance and further growth/development of individual skill sets and knowledge.
  • Lead discussions with critical suppliers around long-term objectives and strategies, ongoing market trends, innovation and technology advances, and potential investment decisions.

Relevant Experience

  • Sourcing Direct &/or Indirect Spend, OR Procurement Leadership.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; Experience in spreadsheet, database, and statistical analysis; analytical and interpretive skills to recognize, comprehend and assess data, complex issues, and industry information.
  • Strong ability to present complex topics in an effective and concise manner to broad-based audiences including various levels of management, customer service, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills and demonstrated conflict resolution skills; ability to identify, assess and mitigate risk.
  • Effective and proven strategic planning ability. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously; exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with the team and all levels and areas of the organization.
  • Familiarity with business and contract law as applied to supplier relationships.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills are required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Working with virtual teams.
  • University degree.
  • At least 3-5 years experience in Procurement or SC.
  • Experience on large-scale change management projects.
  • Previous experience in procurement/planning/R&D roles would be an advantage.
