JOB PURPOSE

Degree, a €500m brand in its own right, is a pivotal member of the Rexona family; the number 1 anti-perspirant brand worldwide and the 2nd largest brand for Unilever Personal Care (€2.2BN split €1BN men, €1.2BN female). A brand that has been at the forefront in leading the category since the day it was born. The first brand to launch an AP into a market of only Deodorants and the first brand to bring proven superior body heat activated technology. We unapologetically live by our product truth of undeniable, superior efficacy that ‘Won’t Let You Down’ and our purpose ‘to inspire the confidence in everyone to move more’.  

However, whilst there are many similarities with Rexona there are many differences not least that Degree is a challenger brand in need of significant turnaround in both genders which will require a dedicated community management focus.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

1. Community Engagement and Management
• Lead and nurture Degree’s online and social communities, ensuring vibrant, respectful, and consistent interaction with brand followers and users.
• Develop engaging content tailored for Degree’s target audience, aligned with the brand’s tone, values, and campaign objectives.
• Respond promptly to questions, comments, and feedback on various platforms, serving as the voice of the brand while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
2. Content Development and Strategy
• Collaborate with marketing, creative, and digital teams to design and execute community-driven campaigns and initiatives.
• Use insights from community feedback and platform analytics to inform and improve content strategy, aligning it with brand growth and audience engagement goals.
3. Monitoring and Reporting
• Track and report on key performance metrics such as engagement rates, sentiment analysis, and content performance, providing insights to optimize future campaigns.
• Monitor trends, user sentiment, and emerging community needs to inform brand direction and ensure the brand remains culturally relevant.
4. Crisis Management and Brand Protection
• Be proactive in managing potential crises and negative brand interactions to mitigate impact while maintaining trust with the community.
• Identify and address potential reputation risks on social and community platforms, escalating issues as needed with clear action plans.
5. Collaboration with Influencers and Brand Advocates
• Identify, foster, and manage relationships with influencers, brand ambassadors, and super-users to amplify brand messages and campaigns.
• Collaborate with key partners to co-create content that resonates with target audiences and drives broader brand awareness and loyalty.
6. Innovation and Continuous Improvement
• Experiment with new formats, engagement tactics, and platform tools to keep the community fresh, engaging, and growing.
• Stay updated on evolving social media trends, platform changes, and consumer behavior shifts, adapting strategies accordingly.

This role demands a blend of creativity, data-driven decision-making, and a deep commitment to fostering positive, inclusive, and effective brand communities.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

Experiences & Qualifications

1. Relevant Experience
• Minimum 4 years of experience in community management, social media engagement, or digital marketing, ideally within personal care, consumer goods, or a related field.
• Proven success in developing and executing community engagement strategies, including creating content, managing social campaigns, and building online communities.

• Agency background preferred

2. Educational Background
• A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, digital media, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certifications in digital marketing, social media, or content marketing is a plus.

3. Industry and Platform Knowledge
• Demonstrated expertise in managing social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, etc.) and experience using social media management tools (like Sprout Social, Hootsuite, etc.) and analytics platforms.
• Experience engaging with diverse and dynamic audiences to foster brand loyalty and drive community growth.

4. Data-Driven Approach
• Experience using data and analytics to inform engagement strategies, track key metrics, and make data-driven decisions to optimize content and campaigns.

5. Collaboration and Teamwork
• Experience working cross-functionally with marketing, creative, and brand teams, as well as external partners such as agencies and influencers.
6. Content Creation
• Proven ability to develop creative, engaging content tailored to different platforms and target audiences while maintaining brand voice and values.

7. Crisis Management and Communication Skills
• Experience managing sensitive issues, online crises, and negative feedback, with a focus on conflict resolution and maintaining positive community interactions.

8. Influencer Relations
• Experience working with influencers, advocates, or brand ambassadors to drive community engagement and amplify marketing messages.

9. Passion for Brand and Consumer Insight
• A deep understanding of and passion for the brand, target consumers, and trends within the personal care space.

10. Proficiency with Tools and Platforms
• Experience with social listening and analytics tools, customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, and content management systems (CMS).

• High emotional intelligence to handle sensitive conversations, manage crises, and foster a positive community atmosphere.

• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple campaigns and initiatives, work cross-functionally, and meet deadlines.

• Experience working with influencers, brand advocates, and cross-functional teams to execute campaigns and foster brand partnerships.

8. Trend Awareness and Adaptability
• Staying up-to-date with evolving social media trends and platform features, and being adaptable to changes in consumer preferences and community dynamics.

9. Crisis Management
• Skills in handling reputation management, identifying and mitigating risks, and escalating issues when necessary.

10. Customer Focus
• Commitment to creating meaningful, value-driven engagement that enhances the customer experience and builds brand loyalty.

Pay: The pay range for this position is $86,080 to $129,120. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.

Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
