Location - Hammond IN (Unionized)

Rotating Shift Hours:

(1st week) 7:00 am – 3:15 pm

(2nd week) 3:00 pm – 11:15

(3rd week) 11:00 pm – 7:15 am

Hourly Pay Rate – $24.76 - Weekly Pay Periods

Background & Purpose of the Job

Our Unilever Hammond, IN facility is the home of the Dove Beauty bar, one of Unilever's biggest brands and the largest soap factory within the US.Our Hammond facility is where we have been working to make beauty a source of confidence by manufacturing the different variations of the Dove beauty bar.By joining our Hammond team, you will join a globally recognized site, that is also famous for being able to produce a billion bars in one year

Who You Are & What You’ll Do

The Security Guard role will involve conducting the basic security operations, providing overall support to the site SHE and Security manager to develop and implement all applicable security standards at site


All security guards must be polite, approachable, neat and presentable, demonstrating excellent customer service

  • Promote the first impression of the business focusing on the creating and maintaining a professional image to be projected to all and dealing with enquiries promptly and effectively whether in person, over the phone or via email

  • Deal with contractors, issuing them ID’s and noting their entries into the relevant logs

  • Make rounds of inspection at fixed intervals and reports in by means of radio or other devices

  • Prevent the admittance to the premises of unauthorized persons

  • Report damage to perimeter or other property or buildings which compromise security

  • Review CCTV recordings and provide functional support for physical security

  • Manage daily activities regarding plant entry and video security

  • Monitor and control security video cameras

  • Performing 50% of vehicle checks / inspections of all vehicles entering and leaving the plant

  • Validating all vehicles and drivers coming into the plant and ensuring all sign in and their identity is verified by providing a valid government issued identification IE

  • Manage and control all gates (Train, Employee, emergency access gates)

  • Monitor and printing CCURE0 reports

  • Monitor plant emissions 24Hrs a day

  • Manage confined space documents, recordings reading and documenting in and out times of contractors inside confined space•

  • Maintain and check in and out plant communication radios•

  • Report progress and any work-related incidents to the security department manager

  • Perform access control responsibilities including managing badges access cards and visitor cards

  • Performing shipping clerks duties during off shifts after the clerks on duty leave (Monday – Friday 10 PM – 6 AM) and on weekends after 2PM until the following morning when the clerk arrives

  • Monitor truck/ merchandise entering and leaving the plant by checking seals and verifying that trailers are empty

  • Check seals and match trailer numbers and PO numbers against bills of lading and center into computer

  • Validate trailer numbers and PO numbers against Bill of lading in the PINC system and dispatch in the system

  • Replace seals whenever there is an issue and document in PINC, date stamp and initial paperwork

  • Security takes care of all medical issues in the absence of a nurse and during off shifts

What You’ll Need To Succeed

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • A minimum experience of 3 years as a security guard

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Manage access control to restricted areas coordinate with SHE manager on security protocols and requirements and analyze identification forms

  • Understanding of security management systems in depthFirst aid, CPR AED certification (Must keep current)

  • Knowledge of several computer programs in order to input necessary information required for different departments

  • Experience and understanding and knowledge of all systems under security's control (access control, CCTV, fire panel, key controls etc.) and control the associated process to make sure these systems are used to maximum efficiency
