Background & Purpose of the Job 

Senior Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) Supervisor has responsibility for supporting and implementing Occupational Safety and Environmental compliance to achieve excellence. You will work with Supply Chain teams to implement SHE Strategy and improvement plans to achieve sustainable SHE excellence by reducing injuries expressed in TRFR and increase Safety Culture and working to reduce the sites environmental impact.

Main Responsibilities

  • Drive Manufacturing Performance: Enhance current and future manufacturing performance focusing on Safety Compliance and Safety Culture using the World Class Manufacturing framework.
  • Environmental Impact Reduction: Minimize the site's environmental footprint in areas such as COD, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, CO2 emissions, and water and energy consumption. Lead the Zero Waste to Landfill Program and overall waste reduction initiatives.
  • SHE Team Support: Assist in managing the Site’s Safety Health & Environment (SHE) teams to achieve Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment goals.
  • Safety Capability Building: Develop and implement safety training programs for site management and employees.
  • Risk Assessments: Support the site team in conducting OHS and Environmental risk assessments and track the implementation of appropriate risk mitigation controls.
  • Safety and Environmental Leadership: Co-lead the Safety and Environmental Pillar in line with established guidelines.
  • Behavioral Based Safety Programs: Act as the site coach for Behavioral Based Safety programs.
  • PSM Program Deployment: Gain a thorough understanding of the Unilever PSM program and support its deployment at the site.
  • Safety Procedures and Controls: Establish and agree on safety procedures and effective controls for Management of Change, Safety Management of Contractors, and Commissioning of new equipment and machines.
  • Leadership Influence: Drive safety and environmental leadership through line management by influencing the Leadership Team (SCLT) and team leaders.
  • Legal Compliance Monitoring: Ensure the site meets all local/national regulatory requirements and Unilever standards. Provide advice on national SHE legislation and implement relevant procedures and policies.
  • Occupational Health Collaboration: Work closely with Occupational Health personnel to identify and mitigate risks leading to occupational health.
  • Crisis Team and Safety Committee Development: Assist the SHE Manager in developing the crisis team and safety committee; support the factory leader in leading incident investigations and analyses.
  • Trend Analysis: Conduct trend analysis and share results from incidents, near misses, safe behavior observations, and area inspection audits.
  • Internal Auditing and Inspections: Develop and deploy internal SHE auditing and inspection systems, and participate in other audits as required.
  • Training Programs: Determine training needs and assist in delivering training programs.
  • Central Safety Committee Facilitation: Facilitate and lead discussions with the site's central safety committee.
  • Data Integrity: Ensure that SHE-related critical data and records are maintained with integrity.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Experiences & Qualifications

  • Factory-Based Experience: 3+ years in a factory-based role, with a focus on Process Improvement or Safety, Health, and Environmental roles.
  • Supervisory Experience: At least 1 year in a supervisory role with direct reports.
  • Educational Background: Advanced degree in Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Sustainability.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication abilities.
  • Observation and Auditing Skills: Excellent observation and auditing capabilities.

Preferred

  • PSM Experience: Prior experience with Process Safety Management (PSM).
  • Environmental Policies: Experience in developing and implementing environmental policies.
  • Specialized Training: Post-graduate specialization in technical disciplines and/or SHE training and certifications.

Pay: The pay range for this position is $84,400 to $126,600. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.

Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
