Job Purpose

The role of the Automation Engineer is to provide professional services in technical tasks, manage the design, selection, procurement, installation and commissioning of equipment required to meet the company’s manufacturing objectives and process improvements. The position shares responsibility for cost estimates and for controlling project expenditure that will involve external contact with suppliers and contractors.  It will also necessitate close co-operation, participating in and leading teams made up of members from several different departments.

This is an additional & newly created role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Automation Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day oversight of site automation and control's reliability.

  • Support the site masterplan for automation & controls including end to end execution of site controls/automation capital investment projects.

  • Works with electrical lead and electricians across all shifts to troubleshoot issues related to downtime and efficiency loss.

  • Provides technical expertise and input into reliability issues for factory systems: SCADA, PLC, HMI, DCS, variable speed control, servo-motion control, Safety controllers and circuit etc. to maximize plant efficiency and reliability.

  • Manages software modification and optimizing programming and maintains all related records.

  • Supports root cause analysis on electrical, instrumentation and control issues

  • Safe work practices ensuring the continual safe running of all the site equipment. This will be achieved by ensuring high levels of responsiveness, additional focus on MTBF, MTTR and using this information to prioritise maintenance and improvement activities.

  • Obsolescence audit and Upgradation of old technology with new standards and systems.

What you will need to succeed?

Experiences & Qualifications

  • Must have a degree in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering or Electrical trades certificate.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing.

  • FMCG Manufacturing Experience highly desirable.

  • PLC and SCADA programming experience.
