Job Title: Global Cyber Security OT Technical Authority (TA1)

We are currently seeking a Global Cyber Security OT Technical Authority (TA1) to join our innovative and forward-thinking Global Business Operations Cyber Security team. This high-impact role supports the Supply Chain in delivering maximum resilience by securing our automation estate and advancing cyber security across Unilever’s global manufacturing, R&D, and warehousing operations.
Unilever has a clear strategy to secure automation across its global manufacturing sites. Following the successful deployment of core cyber security controls, we are now entering the next phase—embedding and evolving our OT security posture and culture. As the Technical Authority Lead, you will guide and support the wider TA structure across the regional cluster teams and report directly to the Director of OT & IoT Security Engineering (TA0).
JOB PURPOSE
As a key member of the Cyber Security Engagement & Engineering team, you will be responsible for OT cyber security across sites including automation and control systems, safety systems, engineering IT assets, and both IT and engineering networks within factories, R&D, and some warehousing locations.
You will lead the ongoing cyber security operational programs, maintain OT security and support sites with a range of digital factory and Industry 4.0 initiatives. These projects span safety, quality, cost efficiency, capacity, innovation, and infrastructure—primarily within Automation & Control (A&C) for batch, continuous, and packaging systems.
Collaboration & Impact
In this global role, you will act as a specialist security authority in industrial control and OT environments, providing strategic guidance and technical expertise across all regions. You’ll collaborate closely with IT, Information Security Leads, regional Technical Authorities, and engineers across electrical, mechanical, operations, safety, and quality assurance functions.
Your leadership will ensure the successful delivery of OT security strategy of improved resilience and support sites with their projects to improve productivity
RESPONSIBILITIES
Managing and leading delivery and maintenance of OT security strategy across a global factory, R&D and Warehouse. Responsibilities and activities include:
- Relationship building with ISL’s, senior management stakeholders and SLT.
- Presentations to senior management stakeholders and SLT.
- Proactive management and delivery of OT security programme and projects to ensure the following are carried out:
- Design and approach of solutions and services meet requirements.
- Scoping and production of deliverables.
- Project and financial management.
- Review of team deliverables for quality and risk purposes.
- Liaising with stakeholders on delivery and implementation issues.
- Identifying cyber improvement opportunities.
- Developing relationships with colleagues in other areas of the business.
- Monitor and uphold high quality of service.
- Communicates with impact, in a way that is open, honest, consistent and clear.
- Work to deliver an agreed portfolio of projects under the leadership of the relevant Supply Chain and /or Information Security Leads
- Ensure professional project execution with strong stakeholder engagement along with a high level of communication to multiple levels of the organization.
- Support management to check feasibility of capex projects working collaboratively with Quality, Safety, Manufacturing, Marketing, R+D and plant personnel to clarify the brief, understand work scope, estimate costs and create viable timelines.
- Work with internal Information Security, IT, Engineering teams and 3rd parties to develop feasibility studies, project plans, impact analysis etc., to meet the business objectives within identified constraints.
- Participate and contribute to factory OT governance activities.
- Develop Project Execution Plan and schedules.
- Execute projects ensuring adherence to schedule, budget. Manage security solution deployments and improvements, contractors, and OEM’s ensuring Unilever Security and Safety Standards are applied.
- Assist factory with non-capital improvements identifying enhancements in ways of working to improve line or infrastructure efficiencies.
- Assist with the complex control related cyber troubleshooting
- Work with multiple stakeholders to improve OT security skill sets within the factory workforce.

ALL ABOUT YOU
- Experience in delivering OT security in an A&C environment within a global manufacturing organisation.
- Demonstrable experience of the cyber security issues facing manufacturing organisations and particularly security risk management relating to industrial control systems and Operational Technology.
- Strong understanding of legacy A&C concepts and technology and digital OT and Industry 4.0 technology in terms of network infrastructure, integration with business information systems, and the challenges faced from a cyber security perspective.
- Strong team focus, communication, relationship building and influencing skills.
- To lead teams with internal and external resources.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver projects to the Unilever engineering standards.
- To provide technical subject matter expertise and leadership for OT cyber security design, installation, configuration and management. You drive improvement to standards with coordination from Unilever Engineering and other factories and will direct the implementation of such solutions.
Typically requires 5 to 10 years of related experience. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. You’ll need to have strong Programme and Project Management skills, Cyber Security and Process Management, Contract Management & Conflict Resolution, Budget Management is needed. Proven background in cyber security management and project engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is a must. Proficiency in MS Office – Excel / Power Point and Word required. Working knowledge, A&C systems, data networks and end-to-end cyber controls and solutions. Travel is approximately 10%.

- Proven experience of successfully managing OT cyber protection services in an industrial environment, ensuring the delivery of high quality work on time and to budget.
- Proven ability to lead work at sustained levels of high intensity, and inspire drive and resilience in others.
- Demonstrable breadth of skills/experience in a global manufacturing organisation.
- Proven ability to analyse problems, identify core issues and recommend appropriate solutions
- Proven ability in taking appropriate action after monitoring/reviewing the progress and performance of others.
- Extensive OT Security management experience
- Demonstrable experience of influencing senior executives, up to board level.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral), negotiation and project management skills or related qualification, e.g. PRINCE2
ICS/OT Technology
A strong background in controls, industrial computing, Operational Technology and data networking/telemetry infrastructure is essential.
- Chartered Engineer.
- Bachelor's degree of Electronic Engineering or Computer Science or related.
- Recognised peer reviewed information protection qualifications, M.Inst IISP or equivalent.
- Experience in Security management of industrial control and related systems such as:
- Process control.
- SCADA.
- Distributed control.
- PLCs and RTUs.
- Industrial cyber security and data communications.
- IoT and Industrial IoT.
- Experience in Security risk management and architecture.
- Strong understanding of ICS/OT Security in manufacturing (preferable food, home care or personal care products).
- Working knowledge of Security standards relating to ICS, including:
- ISO 27001.
- NERC CIP.
- ISA99/IEC 62443.
- CPNI/NCSC Security for Industrial Control Systems Framework.
- NIST 800-82.
Fluent in spoken and written English
Preferred: Based on our UK office but will consider other regions if can work in core time window
