Job Title: Run to Standard Cell Process Engineer

Location: Port Sunlight Factories (Site based)

Work-Level: 18


JOB PURPOSE

The Run to Standard Process Engineer is responsible for overseeing performance data analytics, line settings, changeover processes, and problem-solving for their assigned lines. This role ensures the provision of accurate stops and performance data for line workflows and problem-solving sessions. Additionally, the PE is tasked with eliminating equipment losses through optimized line settings and changeover processes, as well as building problem-solving capabilities in operators.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Process/Tool Ownership:

  • Manage stops and performance data analytics for the line, providing stops, MTBS, and OEE data for meetings

  • Support the line team with advanced analytics for workflows and problem-solving sessions

  • Maintain and update the line heat map for loss stratification and top loss identification

  • Continuously develop performance analytics tools

  • Oversee the line settings process, including deployment, execution, KPI reporting, and continuous improvement

  • Manage the changeover process, including deployment, execution, KPI reporting, and continuous improvement

  • Lead SMED workshops to enhance the changeover process

  • Own the problem-solving process, offering subject matter support to the line team and operators

People Responsibilities:

  • Build problem-solving capabilities in operators

  • Coach operators on processes and best practices

Loss Elimination Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and execution of 90-day plans and weekly/monthly plans

  • Lead and support problem-solving sessions.

ALL ABOUT YOU

  • Able to visualize clearly what the ideal production system is;

  • Able to clearly understand operating principles and establish correct operating standards;

  • Able to present findings and rationales clearly so that whole factory team can understand;

  • Able to make logical decisions based on data;

  • Able to prioritise effectively between daily losses (sporadic) and long-term losses (Chronic).

Entry Routes

  • Direct Entry role for post graduate engineers with a flair for improvement engineering and coaching

  • Direct Entry role for post Level 4 apprentices or experienced shift engineer/focused technicians with an aptitude for loss and waste elimination

  • Progression role for operating technicians with a strong technical knowledge of the processes and lines.

Recruitment Fraud

Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money. In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs.  These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate. 

How is Unilever tackling this?

Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.
