Background & Purpose of the Job
As a Sr. Production Supervisor, you will be responsible to provide frontline leadership representing the production department. You will be responsible for driving current and future manufacturing performance in the areas of Safety, Productivity, People, Cost, Quality and Delivery using the UMS operating framework. Overseeing the manufacturing activities across all shifts as well as working individually and on teams to identify areas of opportunity to cause beneficial change. You will champion Factory Operating system practices as applicable to production. You will uphold Safety & Morale of the employees as a value in the factory and will ensure compliance to quality always as a priority.
Who You Are & What You’ll Do
- Responsible for SHE, Quality Programs, Incidents root cause and CAPA pertaining to Production Area/ Equipment and ensuring completion / compliance including reviews of applicable SHE, quality and food safety processes, SOP's, Work Instructions
- Employee Relations – Lead disciplinary investigations / hearings/Advance counselling/Termination review and to hear grievances where required in their area.
- Participates in daily the FOS meetings
- Production Planning – Ensuring the weekly production schedules in collaboration with the planning department. Must ensure this is robustly communicated along with any changes to the production teams.
- Responsible for all projects relevant to the production area (Innovations, SHE, Q)
- Managing Direct Reports (Where applicable) - Scheduling, absenteeism, training, Proficiency testing, PDPs
- Planning - Collaborating with planning teams to ensure seamless scheduling of project activities.
- Department Rep for Management of Change and ensuring applicable tasks area assigned to the shift supervisors
- Coordinates with QA Innovations on New product/Trials
- Lead/CoLead AM pillar with Production Manager
- Training & Recruitment - Conduct employee reviews during first 50 days to ensure competence
- Reviews production losses and coordinated with UMS / FI teams on improvements
- Training – works closely with the site training team to ensure plans are coordinated properly with labour and production requirements. Expected to take a holistic view of skill level in their area (e.g. through grade distribution) and work with the operations manager, training teams and shift managers to set appropriate direction & to coordinate resources.
- Recruitment – Works with the Production manager, labour planner & shift supervisor and HR to agree & coordinate recruitment activities for the area.
- Partner with QA on supplier issue identification and provide input to support SNCR and Supplier Claims
- Responsible for Overseeing the execution of the quality and food safety programs in production (HACCP- CCP-OPRP, prevention of cross contamination, allergen, dry floor, vision system, etc.) by the shift supervisors
- Disciplinary action, employee coaching (Terminations & Suspensions)
- Dealing with people issues as applicable – In the absence of Production manager act as a Point of contact for Union for Production floor
- Coordinated with UMS Lead and ensures R2S compliance at the production floor
- Proper administration of the Collective Agreement and use of a proactive problem-solving approach.
- Regularly cascading/communicating site targets and goals from the Leadership Team to shift crews, consistently and accurately.
- Actively coordinate with Maintenance teams focusing on the plant heat map and prioritize execution
- Lead business waste reduction
- Lead/participate in OEE/waste reduction initiatives
- Manage / Optimize blue collar labor cost
- Work on projects that would support individual growth in line with 3+1
