As a Sr. Mix Supervisor, you will be responsible to provide frontline leadership representing the Mix department. You will be responsible for driving current and future manufacturing performance in the areas of Safety, Productivity, People, Cost, Quality and Delivery using the UMS operating framework  as applicable. Overseeing the activities within Mix across all shifts as well as working individually and on teams to identify areas of opportunity to cause beneficial change. You will champion Factory Operating system practices as applicable to Mix.  You will uphold Safety & Morale of the employees as a value in the factory and will ensure compliance to quality always as a priority.

Who You Are & What You’ll Do

Responsible for SHE, Quality Programs, Incidents root cause and CAPA pertaining to Mix   Area/ Equipment and ensuring completion / compliance including reviews of applicable SHE, quality and food safety processes, SOP's, Work Instructions.

Responsible for setting up the weekly mix requirement plan and deliver mix to the production lines on time in full without generating production downtime.

Accountable for keeping Mix record verification and storage/ availability (HTST, CIP) and lead CFIA and GMP mix room inspections.

Responsible for ordering mix raw ingredients and coordinate their delivery times based on production plan needs. Cream, modified milk ingredients (MMI), Concentrate skim milk (CSM), liquid sugars and oils including all Dry Ingredients

Agreeing on the % of fats and solids with the vendors and optimizing the process reducing cost.

Responsible for achieving productivity (Overall equipment efficiency), cost (variable labor), chemicals and waste targets. Leads the mix rework pillar.

Responsible for coordinating and supervising Mix department Overhauls. HTST, homogenizers, probe meters, pumps, valves.

Coordinated with the Lab Techs on the fat testing procedures and results, Ensures alignment with quality lab on proper testing procedure for dairy and mixes.

Support Mix innovation and coordinate trials with R&D and Quality departments.

Coordinating with Innovations, Procurement and relevant teams to ensure that any new recipes agree with SAP for costing targets and ordering accuracy.

Actively work with R&D when any mixes need updating and are too viscous.

Responsible for ensuring applicable maintenance / calibration throughout the Mix Department By either arranging contractors Or utilizing the Mix Tech Operators Or working with the Engineering team.

When applicable, Responsible for Capital projects that are triggered and need verifying and testing before use. Including MOC for Mix Projects

  • Proper administration of the Collective Agreement and use of a proactive problem-solving approach.
  • Regularly cascading/communicating site targets and goals from the Leadership Team to shift crews, consistently and accurately also overseeing Mix teams applicable training needs
  • Reviewing the sanitations sheets for the mix department.  Responsible for the sanitation program for Mix Department.
  • Responsible to review and verify the HTST Charts (CCP) for proper time and temperature control to comply with FS Regulations
  • Active participation in leading the rollout of UMS activities to the mix department.
  • Responsible for Cream reporting on a monthly basis & Stats Canada Reporting
  • Responsible for Various Audits (KPMG Etc)
  • Oversee all activities carried out by the Mix Rework coordinator & ensure optimization of Rework into the production plan by coordinating with the Planning & Production Teams
  • Training – Initiate a process of creating & maintaining a robust documentation to ensure skill retention and knowledge transfer
  • Lead/participate in OEE/waste reduction initiatives
  • Responsible for Cream / Rework optimization (target TBD)
  • Responsible for ensuring maintenance for cleaning chemical budget and cost savings initiatives (cleaning chemicals - Diversey) corresponding to Mix department
  • Manage / Optimize blue collar labor cost
