ABOUT Ben & Jerry’s

Ben & Jerry’s was founded in 1978 in a renovated gas station in Burlington Vermont, USA by childhood friends & dedicated activists Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield. They took a $5 correspondence course in ice cream making from Penn State University and with a $12,000 investment ($4,000 was borrowed), they began their business making the finest quality ice cream with big chunks and swirls. They operated the company on a sustainable concept of linked prosperity and a 3-part mission where product, economic and social objectives carried equal importance.

Today, Ben & Jerry’s is a global business and a key premium brand in the total European Ice Cream portfolio at Unilever, who acquired B&J’s in 2000. Nordics is one of the largest clusters in EU and has an important role in shaping B&J’s European strategy.

JOB PURPOSE:

Are you a passionate, business articulate marketer who shares our core belief in values-based business? Do you have an appetite to drive transformational growth by leading this fantastic brand? Then this role is tailored for you.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

You would have responsibility to lead and deliver for Ben and Jerry’s three-part mission (Economic, Product, Social) through your innovation projects and your management of the product portfolio. The role involves:

  • Build brand plans based on market insights, consumer and shopper trends, NRM principles, channel insight and competitor understanding.
  • Day-to-day product portfolio management, including monitoring/reporting of in-market performance.
  • Continuous optimization of Nordic product portfolio based on in-market performance.
  • Launching new innovations. Building Business Cases and driving projects through Investor Board Process working closely with B&J’s EU team & customer development teams.
  • Ownership of P&L for your B&J’s projects.
  • POS visibility custodian for B&J’s – liaising with the Marketing activation managers across Nordics and B&J EU’s & Global teams on designs and guidelines for POS and other assets.
  • Artwork Champion for B&J’s Nordics, managing the artwork approval process for the local team in conjunction with the B&J’s European development team.
  • Monitor and review effectiveness of innovation and renovation programme to inform future plans.
  • Ensure eCom content is optimized.
  • Analyse the market, consumer and shopper trends & competitor understanding. Support management with insights as a base for Brand audits and to contribute to B&J’s long term Brand strategy.
  • Collaborate with Category managers & CMI to create Trade presentations
  • As a Brand Manager, you will engage in continuous cross-functional stakeholder management across Ice Cream Nordics, and establish a close partnership with fellow team members, not only in B&J’s Nordic & EU teams, but also with B&J’s Global digital & media teams based in Vermont, US.
  • Most importantly you will be tasting brand new Ice Cream flavours! Because as Jerry once said, ‘if it’s not fun… Why do it?’

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, growth and ‘let’s do it’ mindset – someone who seeks out the opportunities.
  • Strong business acumen with a desire for empowerment to develop and build plans.
  • Strong project management skills – capable of confidently guiding cross-functional, project teams.
  • Passionate, optimistic, and articulate marketer with high affinity to Ben & Jerry’s and the companies’ values.
  • Strong P&L and Business Case understanding.
  • IT literacy & Nielsen understanding
  • Language requirements English: Other Nordic language skills are seen as a plus.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

  • 1-3 years brand management experience in an FMCG environment.
  • Experience from portfolio management and innovation/product launch.
  • Business management experience (basic financials e.g. P&L).
  • Understanding of the Nordic retailer landscape, incl. e-commerce would be preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This is a parental leave cover and the start date is April 2025 or as soon as possible, we will proceed with interviews asap.  This role will preferably be based in Solna, Sweden, but other Nordic countries can be considered. To be taken into consideration for this role, you will need to hold a valid working permit for Sweden (or the other Nordic country where you would be based).
