Job Purpose

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Professional with expertise in sourcing LDPE, LLDPE, BOPP, PE & PET films and resins. If you have a proven track record in managing spend categories and countries within the flexibles portfolio and are adept at implementing market-relevant sourcing strategies, this role is for you. 

You will be responsible for developing comprehensive long-term strategies that align with market and business needs. Your role will involve leading the provision of market insights for these materials, ensuring Unilever stays ahead with the best future resins. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the commodities risk management team to hedge resin exposure effectively.

Main Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Responsible for the Asia feedstocks road map with 3-5 strategy- what to buy, where to buy, how to buy, when to buy, whom to buy from. 

  • Develop and implement strategies working closely with regional portfolio / formats managers- assess needs of the market, deep value chain understanding, industry analysis.  

  • Competitive supplier selection or development 

  • Benchmarking & best practices -identify metrics, tools, and process to optimize sourcing, supplier activities and efficiencies. 

  • Initiate and drive large global change management projects e.g., Complexity reduction projects (e.g., harmonisation of specifications and suppliers), resilience. 

  • To support in delivering Unilever ‘s multi-year commitments on sustainable sourcing of plastics -the environment, well-being, and social imperatives in the procurement of materials and services. 

  • Close liaison with regional teams and strategy and insights teams on contract board and strategy council submissions, cost model development and competitiveness vs the market and implementation of insights through the strategy and negotiations. 

  • Communicate Flexibles feedstocks strategy with multiple stakeholders in Unilever. 

Value Creation

  • Overall responsible for the value creation program/competitiveness in films & resins including but not limited to- driving price transparency through directed buy or right to audit, indices change or optimisation, competitive resin formulas including cost model approach- monomer plus, logistics optimisation, alternate suppliers and material approvals, grade harmonisation for scale and competitiveness and value chain disruptions. 

  • Work with the regional procurement managers to integrate global sourcing strategies with business and portfolio demands, ensuring timely inputs to and OTIF execution of global/regional strategy and projects.  

  • Close liaison with strategy and insights teams on contract board and strategy council submissions, cost model development and competitiveness vs the market and implementation of insights through the strategy and negotiations. 

  • Collaboration with collaborative manufacturing teams in driving programs and leveraging our buying scale to our collaborative manufacturing network to optimise our competitiveness. 

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Ensure suppliers are compliant to our responsible sourcing policy. 

  • Negotiate value driven agreements that are in line with defined commercial and legal requirements and subsequently manage the supplier relationships/SLA’s along with key stakeholders. 

  • Measure and manage overall performance of suppliers.  

  • lead the rationalization of suppliers, materials and services that meet Unilever's business requirements. 

  • Support service, resilience, and quality strategies with the respective supply base, supporting markets in specific requirements with the suppliers. 

Business partnering

  • Responsible for price forecasting ensuring accuracy and completeness of the forecast economic assumptions and communicating timely to key business stakeholders forecast updates timely for further engagements with BG’s. 

  • Share market insights that support the business with accurate price forecasting, which includes market conditions, price trends and future market trends to enable proper budgeting and price forecasting. 

  • Work with pricing agencies like IHS, ICIS and CMACC to deliver Key insights.  

  • Work closely with the market procurement teams in the markets to support the launch of innovations, new product development or new supplier introduction. 

Others

  • Ensure compliance to defined procurement procedures-contracting, contract management process- contract boards, strategy councils. 

  • Delivery of Financial KPI’s: NMI, cash 

  • Resilience program implementation 

  • Complexity reduction  

  • Continuous process improvement, financial forecasting 

  • Effective supplier communications and engagement in key programs 

  • New supplier scanning 

  • Material price Forecasting 

Candidate Criteria

Experience & Qualification

  • University degree, preferably a master’s degree. 

  • At least 15 years’ experience in senior procurement or supply chain or R&D roles  

  • Experience on large-scale, complex projects change management projects. 

  • Supply market and FMCG knowledge 

  • Expertise in sustainability, circular economy, and processing technologies 

  • Experience in packaging engineering coupled with commercial acumen. 

  • Experience in operations- end to end portfolio management including service and quality. 

  • Demonstrated and proven leadership capabilities to lead a virtual global team. 

Skill

  • Subject matter expertise in Flexibles 

  • Negotiation & communications skills 

  • Digital and analytics knowledge 

  • Financial acumen for business cases and reporting 

  • Experience with cost models 

  • Packaging technologies and innovations 

  • Experience in Procurement transformation projects, tools, and technologies.  

  • Proven experience in Procurement or Supply Chain  

  • Strong Negotiation skills. 

  • Self-starter mentality 

  • Strong analytical capabilities (including finance) 

  • Experience in Cross Functional working and cross geography project management 

  • Experience and understanding of business processes and SAP systems. 

  • Ability to interact with people from different cultures and backgrounds, 

  • Strong communications skills and ability to engage and influence others. 

  • Fluent communication and verbal skills in English.  

  • Strong ability in managing multiple stakeholders, projects, and deadlines, with strong analytical & negotiation skills and “can do” mentality. 

  • Appetite for change and eagerness to collaborating with stakeholders to drive through improvements. 

  • Team Leadership

  • Experienced in stakeholder and supplier management. 

  • Experience in managing business stakeholder’s relationships.

  • Travel requirements: 15% - As per job/site requirements
