Where this position fits-into the team:
- Part of the Unilever Legal Powerhouse – a team we’re currently building, which consists of colleagues in Bangalore, Mexico City and Barcelona.
- Integral part of the Unilever’s Legal Function - a global operation consisting of approximately 600 lawyers and specialists
- Based alongside the Unilever team in Barcelona.
Role purpose
The role will report to the Head of Legal Strategy & Operations who is a member of the Legal Leadership Team.
This is a strategic role involving direct interactions with the Chief Legal Officer and the legal Leadership Team as well as other senior members of the legal organisation.
The person will be in charge of developing, monitoring and overseeing the legal organisation’s technology and AI strategy and roadmap and well as overseeing the optimal implementation of the carefully selected tools.
The person will also lead change management and drive adoption of the legal technology and AI tools.
The person is also expected to identify opportunities for optimising the use of legal technology and Artificial Intelligence.
Job Responsibilities:
- Developing, monitoring and overseeing the legal organisation’s technology & AI strategy and roadmap
- Oversee the optimal implementation of the carefully selected technology and AI tools
- Lead change management and training to ensure wide adoption of legal tech
- Continuously monitor development of legal tech and AI tools
- Ensure continuous optimisation of the tools used by the legal team
- Identify areas for improvement and innovation and develop plans to achieve improvement
- Align the legal tech and AI strategy with broader legal and business objectives
- Ensure that legal tech & AI budget is respected
- Product Owner for Legal Tech solutions
- Partnering with UniOps IT Platform and Enterprise Architecture teams to facilitate the delivery of legal services
- Collaborate with Finance on the Legal Spend processes and technology to ensure cost reduction and efficiency. Act as a primary point of contact between the legal department and other departments involved in technology and AI initiatives
- Establish metrics to measure the success and ROI of legal technology
Line Management
Act as a Line manager for a small team.
Stakeholder Management
- Support the development and management of stakeholder relationships within Unilever and with key third parties, including within Legal, UniOps, Procurement, Finance, Digital Marketing, HR, local Data Protection Officers and other businesses

Key Skills
Required Experience
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years relevant experience
- Industry experience working within a large complex business environment requiring analysis of data and making balanced risk decisions.
- Deep understanding of legal technology & AI
- Masters or equivalent education in legal tech
- Proven experience in rolling out legal technology in multiple organisations
- Influencing and management skills
- Ability to work with colleagues across multiple time zones and countries.
- Willingness and drive for process excellence
- Strong knowledge of agile development methodologies, tools, and best practices
Preferable
- Experience within a consumer goods or retail environment.
- Previous people management experience.
