KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The role as SustainabilityImpact & Assurance- Project & Operations Manager - presents an opportunity to be part of the team that will deliver Unilever’s Sustainability goals and be responsible fordeveloping and implementing metrics, tools, policies, systems and processes to measure, monitor, report and verify sustainability programs. You will ensure that we have robust processes, systems and governance for reporting and assuring the goals. You will oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing management of sustainable sourcing compliance programs.
Project Development & Project Management:
Manage the development & implementation of statements of work with verification, benchmarking, compliance and assurance partners.
Develop the statement of work / terms of reference, manage contracts through internal legal, financial and administrative processes.
Project manage the on-time delivery of work and ensure high-quality outputs in format(s) that provide insights for the BOS Team.
Governance: establish, maintain and improve governance documentation and processes
Manage governance processes to ensure Unilever’s Compass sustainability metrics follow requirements set out in Basis of Preparation documentation and report on progress to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
Collaborate with internal audit and assurance teams to coordinate responses to periodic audits.
Coordinate with project teams to integrate sustainability compliance considerations into new initiatives, project development, and procurement processes.
Stay up-to-date with emerging trends, practices, and technologies in sustainability standards and sustainability compliance and recommend improvements to enhance program effectiveness and efficiency.
Reviews processes and documentation to assess compliance with sustainability standards and emerging regulations.
Manage benchmarking of 3rd party standards to assess compliance with Unilever requirements.
Manage Operational Compliance
Develop and execute the overall strategy and implementation roadmap for ensuring Unilever’s operations comply with agricultural sustainability standards such as, but not limited to Rainforest Alliance and RSPO.
Work cross-functionally in the development, implementation, and maintenance of sustainability compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including sustainability, legal, finance, operations, and human resources, to ensure awareness and understanding of compliance requirements and foster a culture of sustainability and responsibility. Conduct regular assessments to identify sustainability compliance risks and gaps, and develop mitigation strategies and action plans.
Monitor changes in standards to ensure ongoing program effectiveness and compliance.
Establish and maintain effective communication channels with external stakeholders, such as standards organizations (such as Rainforest Alliance and RSPO), regulatory bodies, industry associations, and certification bodies, to stay informed about evolving requirements and build collaborative relationships.
Develop and deliver training programs and resources to educate employees on sustainability compliance policies, procedures, and best practices.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
Experience & Qualification
Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental management, business administration, or a related field.
5-8 years’ experience in sustainability, agriculture/forestry, environment protection/conservation.
Proven experience in project management, with the ability to plan, execute, and monitor complex initiatives within established timelines and budgets.
Knowledge of sustainability standards and agricultural certification standards.
Experience in an FMCG a plus, or, in a large complex organisation.
Demonstrated experience in assessing, developing, and implementing compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures, preferably in a corporate setting.
Self-starting, proactive, accountable and driven personality, independent problem solver.
Microsoft office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneDrive, Sharepoint, PowerBI).
