Ambient Transport Manager

Location: Kingston or Port Sunlight

Hybrid working: 3 days per week in the office

Fulltime

Key Responsibilities:

• Fully accountable for multi-million secondary transport spend for all UKI ambient transport movements – encompassing 4 of the 5 Business Units (BUs) – Home Care, Nutrition, Personal Care, Beauty and Well being
• Alignment with strategic vision for BUs to ensure capability at optimal cost
• External focus and collaboration with industry bodies and similar industries to establish best practice
• Relationship owner of external transport partners, driving necessary governance meetings with key stakeholders to include focus on safety, service, cost and sustainability
• Contributing to and part of executing longer term plans for UKI ambient network, taking the lead on transport, loading and pallet solutions
• Working with procurement and operational teams for partner selection and supporting tender processes
• Responsible for ensuring robust transport processes and aligning on data roadmap with 3PLPs for the vision future fit ways of working
• Responsibility for pallet tracking and developing pallet network and quality with external providers
• Governance of stock write offs, returns process improvement and stock in transit working with Logistics SME
• Coordination with wider customer operations team to ensure a superior service experience to customers
• Supporting path to net zero 2030
• Ensure readiness of effective transport solutions for additional storage facilities
• Leader of cost to serve savings and Trade Terms programme for UKI with the Customer Experience and Customer Development teams
• Operational KPIs: On time %, Failed to Arrive %, Cost % Turnover, Cost per pallet/ tonne, Loadfill, Carbon cost/ kg

Business Operations – Planning, Customer Experience, Data and Analytics, logistics teams, Finance, procurement, sourcing unit teams
European contacts – BU teams, EU logistics transformation and performance teams, EU customs team, Regulatory, procurement, Engineering, legal
Customer Development

Skills Profile:

• Essential for the candidate to have an operational background in transport management and be able to demonstrate that they have a working knowledge of Supply Chain End to End processes
• Commercial knowledge and understanding of financial levers essential
• Ability to review and interpret data is essential
• Candidate must demonstrate success in driving operational performance to deliver continuous improvement
• Line management experience
• Excellent communication skills are essential
• Good organisational awareness and ability to build collaborative networks across the business
• High level of curiosity to embrace continuous improvement using latest technologies and resources
• Category experience is not essential but is an advantage
